SCOTT
WESLEY BROWN
Full-length Biograpy
Scott Wesley Brown - an artist whose career has spanned
three decades, continues to prove his relevancy to the
changing times. And his new album Hymns
– The Old Made New is no exception! It is
simply the most energized and authentic album he has
ever recorded. And in addition from his songwriting
standpoint, it has and will put new life to the hymns
for the ever changing church of today!
He has shown through the years that
he is a man of quality and virtue. A
man who has left an indelible mark on Christian music...a
prolific songwriter, dynamic vocalist, challenging author,
international missionary, worship leader and Christian
music pioneer!
The past three decades have seen Scott
Wesley Brown's signature on no fewer than 9
number one singles in Adult-Contemporary and Inspirational
music rankings. His songs have been recorded
by Sandi
Patty,
Amy
Grant, Bruce
Carroll, Pat
Boone, The
Imperials, Petra
and international opera star Placido
Domingo. on his album with John
Denver.
But, Scott’s heart is mission minded
– and his actions display that - Brown's journal records
secret missions behind the Iron Curtain in the early
eighties, and the first publicly
promoted Christian music event in the U.S.S.R. It was
during this August, 1989 concert that over 15,000 Soviets
heard the passionate cry for love and compassion while
the Spirit moved some 2,000 to join in the family of
Christ. He has taken over 100 musicians on trips
to the mission field and provided hundreds of musical
instruments to musicians and missionaries in third world
and restricted access countries.
Scott has recorded 23 albums and traveled
to 50 countries. He has been a featured singer at Promise
Keepers and has written several songs for these
events. He has also worked with Compassion
International, Youth With
a Mission , OPEN DOORS,
Operation Mobilization and
Campus Crusade for Christ (Jesus Film) on various
missions projects abroad.
Scott states about the relevancy of
his new album, “I think reaching
back into history is and has always been a good thing.
Knowing where we came from, the stories behind the lives
of hymn writers (both men and women) needs to continue
so we can illuminate these hymns to our generation and
the ones following. What we are trying to do with the
Worship Hymns is to elevate the content of the lyrics—which
are already powerful and full of meat—and combine it
with the great worshipful music of today.”
This is the new frontier – bringing
in the old and making it new! Scott Wesley Brown is
an important part of the Worship Hymn series, and the
‘Worship Hymn’ conferences that will be unfolding to
cities around the world! >

He sums it up by this statement – “Many of these Hymns
were birthed out of persecution—their lives were at
stake—they were written to preserve the purity of the
Gospel as it was being attacked from every side. These
Worship Hymns offer great Church history and great worship,
putting our worship into the context of all the saints
from all the ages because of their testimony…we are
simply recasting the musical canvas behind this—what
an honor and privilege!”
Scott has worked closely with the U.S.
Center For World Mission, ACMC
(Advancing Churches in Missions Commitment)
and teaches many worship and mission seminars in addition
to maintaining an active concert schedule. Scott lives
with his family in San Diego while extending his studies
at Westminster Seminary,
yet serves as a Worship Pastor
at Scottsdale Bible Church in the Phoenix area.
Scott received his ordination from the
Southern Baptist Convention.
