My husband and I were driving home one evening from church, listening
to the Oasis Radio Network, and heard a song that really touched us with a
very moving message titled He
Will Carry You. We had never heard it before, but before
the song was over, we were singing the chorus. As
soon as I arrived home I got on the internet to find out who was singing
it.
Then immediately tried to find the sound track. Not being able
to do that, last Friday I ordered the song to be faxed to me, but decided
to e-mail and ask first if a track is available. That
song has stayed with me in a powerful way. I just happen to be
a pastor's wife who is in music ministry and only sing songs that impact
my own heart first, knowing in turn, the message will reach others.
Thank you very much!

Hello...My name is Judy and I have a son who is
incarcerated at
Tomoka Correctional Institution in Daytona Beach, Fla. Although he is
a Christian and is saved and accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior many
years ago, he got out of step one day and the Lord let him know it. About
8 months ago he began listening to a radio station in New Smyrna Beach,
Fla. He had listened to other Christian radio stations that he could
get on his radio but something about this program caught his interest
and it has changed his life dramatically. He corresponded with the DJ
who was in charge and also others who were there at the station. As time
went by he told me the program was his church. Then this DJ was approved
to visit almost every Sunday. The amazing thing is that now many of the
men there listen to the program, have met this DJ, who is a Youth Minister
at an Alliance Church and an incredible young man who is on fire for the
Lord! Many of these men have turned their lives over to the Lord. I could
go on and on and tell you of some amazing things that have happened since
all this began but I'm missing my purpose for the letter. I listen to
several Christian radio stations myself and have heard "Godly
Men" by Scott Wesley Brown.
I think this song is so appropriate for those men there.
Because God has worked through this young man, my son is able to think
about his future and how he can serve the Lord who has saved him so many
times. I can now see that there was a reason why he is where he is, why
he listened to the program and I know that God will take care of him no
matter what, all the time. I have always had a hard time with that but
since I have returned to church, my life has also been enriched and blessed
in so many ways. Thanks for letting me ramble on.. Hoping to hear from
you, Judy

Dear Scott:
I’m sure artists who have a “hit song” get sick of
singing it at every concert, even though they know it’s “the one” folks
came to hear.
You, of course have had several of those kinds of songs over the years,
but one of them recently ministered to friends of mine (again), and I
wanted to share the story with you.
My friends, “Jim and Barbara”, (not their real names) have a grown daughter
with a history of serious drug problems, and
she is currently missing. Her situation had improved, but now they fear
the worst. She dropped out of school, quit her job, and left with someone
they don’t know. She has gone into what they call “the drug underground”
and disappeared off the map, it seems.
Needless to say, Jim and Barbara’s hearts are broken
and bleeding just about every moment of every day.
As their friend, it is so hard for me to just watch them suffer. I can
see it in their eyes, their posture, hear it in their voice. They are
oppressed and weighed down with the not-knowing if she is dead or alive.
Not knowing if she wants to be found and get help…again.
I put together a silly set of “gifts” for them that were really just toys
and household items I dressed up to be object lessons to remind them of
scriptural truths they know. After they opened the gifts and we laughed
and we cried together, I also gave them a framed
copy of the words to He
Will Carry You and we sang it together and cried some
more.
Your “old” songs are still reaching out to people in meaningful ways.
Please don’t forget that. Reminding us that God is God, we’re not. God
has been there, and will carry us through. There is no problem too big…mountain
too steep, storm so dark, sorrow too deep…
And I sang to my broken friends, as we stood in their
living room weeping, “I know my brother/sister that He will carry you…”
Thank you for your music; past, present and future. May God continue
to bless you personally and professionally as you hear God’s voice and
respond to it.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
From my heart to yours,
Nancy (last name witheld by request)

* I accepted the Lord in 1984. There were two Christian artists who really
caught my attention with their music, and were the creators of the first
Christian music I ever purchased. Amy Grant and you. I loved the power
in your songs and your lyrics. You played a big part in my developing
my love for the Lord through music. I have been a big music fan all my
life, having over 500 secular rock albums by the time I got to the early
80's. I gave them all away when I became a Christian, and began to build
my Christian library. It hasn't become as large as my rock collection
was, but the reality was that I got married in 1983, and the kids started
arriving in 1985, so buying music took a back seat to taking care of the
family.
Two of my favorite SWB songs is This
Little Child and Yeshua
Ha Mashia (Spelling?). Fabulous. In fact, as I write this,
I remember giving my parents, who were unsaved at the time, and still
are (they are still breathing though, so there is hope), your greatest
hits cassette, because I believed in the songs, and their message, and
wanted to give them some exposure to the truth through music. Isn't that
wild.
So for these reasons, I say thanks to you for using your gifts to encourage
me, and by being a major influence to my love of Christian music.
Blessings to you and your ministry, John Naud District Pastor of International
Ministries Administrative Director - Extension Ministries Centre Street
Church, Calgary, Alberta, Canada

* Several years ago Scott Wesley Brown visited what was then First Assembly
of God here in Grand Rapids now known as Grand Rapids First.
The music was anointed and I was right with him from the start in Spirit.
Afterwards we connected for a brief moment, hugged each other and
shared Holy Spirit fellowship. I have always appreciated Scott's music
although not knowing at times it was his. Two songs that have impacted
me as I venture into full time Christian ministry in the coming days is:
Look
What God Is Doing and He
Will Carry You. The latter is right now blessing for
I just lost my tent making job after 4 months due to no fault of my own
that after having been unemployed for 7 months due to a wrongful discharge
from another employer. But God is faithful and He will carry me through.
May God continue to anoint you with His Spirit and cover you with His
blood. Blessings from a fellow brother in Christ. James Michael Kingma/executive
director of Stonegate Sabbatical Ministries/931 Thornwyk Drive NW, Grand

Dear Scott,
I am having my quiet time this foggy morning in Georgia just
like I have for many years. Life is far more complex than I ever
thought it would be. When things push a little too
hard, and when the burdens seem overwhelming I am reminded often, by one
of my favorite voices, that He
Will Carry Me. And I wanted to tell you something. I
am so pleased that you have been faithful to the Gospel all these years.
You have got to know that you are
making a difference to people that you wouldn't even know are out here
still listening.... and still finding great comfort in the heart and voice
that the Almighty has given to you.
He still carries me

Scott,
My name is John Adams and I sing and play at a small Lutheran Church in Floresville, Texas, just south of San Antonio. I’ve got your cassette called “All My Best” from a few years back. “This is the Day” has been one of my favorites for a long time. I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to sing it at a few weddings.
Two years ago, a young couple asked me to play for their wedding and asked for a special solo. I sang a few other songs with little response. I wasn’t halfway through the first verse of “This is the Day” and the bride-to-be was in tears. That was the song.
I had an opportunity to do the song again this past weekend. A 17-year-old girl was asked to sing at the wedding and was looking for song suggestions. I played “This is the Day” for her and she said, “That’s what I want at my wedding.” I said I would sing it as her wedding as long as she waited a few years and that her groom-to-be loved her liked that. She has a very gentle heart and to see her moved like that was very special.
I thank God for allowing me that moment and I thank you for writing such a beautiful song. The lyrics are so simple and pure. I write a little bit and I strive to write like that.
Thank you.
